Submissions Guidelines Thank you for your interest in submitting your project to Abednego's Free, LLC. We strive to create a strong Young Adult and Mature Teen department and have recently gotten back to our roots and began publishing Christian/Inspirational fiction and urban fiction titles. At the present time, we have closed submissions until further notice. We will open submissions on January 1, 2010 for both our Abednego's Free and Tinsley Phelps imprints. However, before you leave this page, let us give you some general guidelines for what we will be expecting and what many of our colleagues are asking for. 1. Most publishing houses want manuscripts that are double spaced, one inch margins, with your name, title of the book, page number on each page with a cover page that has your contact information. 2. Your queries should not be more than two pages. Open your query with a proposed synopsis of your manuscript, then talk about you and your qualifications for writing the manuscript. Tell us how long the manuscript is. If you are a published author, list any publishing credentials that you have. 3. Please send us edited manuscripts. Gone are the days when an agent or a small publishing house would accept an unedited manuscript and go through several re-writes. When your work is submitted to the publisher, ideally, it is ready to be published and we can devote more resources to promoting, packaging and distributing your title. Only light editing or proofreading should be needed upon submission. Most agents don't accept unedited manuscripts and at the sight of typos, manuscripts are often rejected. 4. Make sure your work fits with the titles your prospective publishing house publishes. For example, our flagship imprint publishes books for teens 14 & up that have mature themes and topics such as gang life, suicide, faith, teenage pregnancy, sexuality, internet bullying and other topics everyday teenagers deal with. Though our books are enjoyed by all, we have a special niche for publishing books that appeal to first time readers and young black men. We hope we have been helpful. Remember to do your research. In the age of the internet, there are plenty of resources available at your fingertips. Good luck and have faith.
